Frequently Asked Questions: LimeLight / IPL

What does LimeLight do?

LimeLight is very effective for improving uneven skin tone. It can treat the individual pigment changes like brown age spots; it can also treat overall blotchiness, freckles, skin redness and individual fine veins.

How does it work?

LimeLight uses light to heat the pigment and blood in the top layer of your skin to reduce discoloration and promote a more even skin tone.

How many treatments will I need?

Patients and conditions will vary in the way they respond, based on their skin biology. Typically we recommend a series of four to six treatments to optimize results.

How long does each treatment take?

Each treatment session takes approximately 20-40 minutes. Treatments that include the chest or décolleté area may take up to 60 minutes.

What does it feel like?

You will feel a series of brief pinches, similar to a rubber band snapping, but no local anesthesia or pain medication is necessary.

What can I expect after the treatment?

If you have specific spots treated, they will darken within 24 hours and begin to flake off naturally within one to three weeks, revealing healthy, clear skin. If you have general redness or fine veins treated, the ‘blush’ will gradually lighten over three to five treatment.

Is it permanent?

Over time, new spots may appear, as a result of new UV exposure and the ongoing aging process. Maintenance treatments can target any new concerns.
